How To Optimize Your Site For Bing

Bing Opimization


While optimizing a website we should not only optimize it in google but also in bing. Because Microsoft  launched bing search engine and has taken a lot of interest from seo community. Bing is different from other search engines and it has cut a  share of google search. Before doing bing optimization we should sign up a Microsoft account. And we should sign in that account for bing optimization.

Submission of a site in bing


First sign up the account. Then the website should be added and verified. After that the site details, its ownership details and sitemap details should be given. Then add the sitemap to the site info page. After completing it, click the save button. Then a redirection to the dashboard of bing webmaster tool is done.

Verification of ownership

After doing submission, ownership verification should be done by clicking the verification option. There are three methods for verification. They are XML file verification, meta tag verification and adding C NAME  records. I prefer meta tag verification because its the easiest one.

After verification dashboard is visible. In dashboard certain details are being displayed like site activity,search keyword etc. Rest of the details are being displayed after configuring the sitemap.

Configure my site

Next option is to configure the site. While configuring we can add sitemap and add URLs or block URLs. By configuring the site, bing can get the structure of the website as well as indexing can be done very easily.

Diagnostics and tools


In diagnostics and tools we can see certain seo webmaster tools. Keyword research can be done i.e it allows you to understand what volume of searches happen for the phrase you entered. By entering the URL you can see how your site appears for the bing search engine. A markup validator is being provided for validating the site if it uses micro format and data. Seo analyzer for getting seo suggestions and bingbot verifier are also provided. If you are moving your site to another site this can be depicted in site move option.

On Page Optimization Techniques


On Page Optimization really means optimizing a webpage in a website. Optimizing means making changes to the webpage using different techniques which make the webpage search engine friendly. It is also referred webpage optimization. The optimization is done in order to get high rank in search engines. On page optimization can be done using various techniques.

On Page Optimization Techniques include:


1. Title  Tag Optimization

Title is the first sentence which gives the details about our webpage. Depending on the title the users will decide whether to visit the webpage or not. Its importance is so high. So it should be done with special care. It should be meaningful and the size should be about 512 pixel which is about 55-60 characters. There are certain things to be remembered while selecting the title. They are:
  •  Minimum characters in title should be 40.
  •  Should be error free that means no grammatical errors.
  •  Should be related to the content

2. Meta Tag Optimization


Meta tag description is a description being displayed under the URL. The characters in the meta description should be 155-160 for a website and should be 154-155 for blog. If meta description is no being described then google will take the first line of the content or any other area of the content as meta description.

3. URL Optimization

URL should be related to the content and it should be simple and meaningful. Then it will be easier for google bots in crawling the website. If we are using relevant keyword then it will be better.

4. Heading Tag Optimization

The heading tags will improve the presentation of the content. There are different sizes for heading tags. The highest size is <h1>, then <h2> likewise it is up to h6 which is the least. There are some important things to be remembered in heading tags. The <h1> tags mainly denotes the main title and should have at least three words and maximum of eight words. If more than one <h1> is given then it will create confusion. If <h1> is not there, then content of<h2> will be taken. 

5. Keyword Density Optimization

Keyword density means the number of times the keyword is being displayed in the content.Precise usage is 2-5%. Placing keyword after a ',' or '.' is a good usage because crawlers as well as users will stop there. It will create  a stress on the keyword.

6. Anchor Text Optimization

Keywords which is having a link is referred to as anchortext. It is a reference to the user. It act as a recommendation to the crawler. Anchor text is created by giving the specified data in <a href=”...”></a>.

7. Image Optimization

Images can always create an attraction to the website. It improves the presentation view. It is difficult for google to identify the description of image by seeing its URL but if it is added with an alt attribute i.e adding an alternate text to the image will be very useful.
Another option is to provide a file name which is related to the content. We can have an option to add image from other published websites. If we are using that then it should be specified under the image courtesy which is given at the end of the post. Surrounding content of the image are also being checked to get the detail of the image.

All these techniques will make the website to be crawled very easily. If on page optimization is done efficiently then their is greater chance to get high position in ranking. A Glimpse Of Search Engine Optimization Basics

SEO Basics

Seo means search engine optimization. Seo is a web marketing technique. Seo enables the users to make their website or web page to be viewed by many people. If its a business site it can increase the business inquiry, sales and also other services. Once seo technique was known only by google. When their occurred a problem for google in crawling the websites, they revealed the search engine optimization technique to the webmasters which makes the site to be crawled very easily. The crawled websites are then be cached and indexed. Optimization really makes the website or webpage more easier to be crawled, cached and then indexed. So that google can give efficient requirements for the users.   

SEO Techniques

 Mainly seo is classified into two types.
      1. White hat technique: This technique uses the rules and techniques provided by google. This technique is being used by those who want long lasting result in their website. This is also called ethical seo.
      2. Black hat technique: This technique mainly focus on the search engine.They need fast financial investment in their website.It will not provide a long term result. They will not obey rules of google.  

SEO Methods

During the starting time the search result was listed based on niche specific manner. Niche specific means the result was shown depending on the number of times the keyword is being used in the website. But it was misused. So google introduced link specific methods. In it the link plays the main role. If the number of links is high, then the quality of that website will become high. But that method was also being misused. Many sellers came for selling links and all. After that google used the quality link specific method. The website having high quality means having high page ranks, their content is good not being theft or copied, it should contain visible pages, it should contain quality links also. 

Google Updations

Google has many updations. Before moving on to updations let us know about two terms in seo that is Google Adwords and Google Adsense. Google Adwords enables listing of advertisements which are being paid to google.

Google Adsense also publishes advertisements through which users can make money.

Google Panda updation is one which punishes low quality websites which contain poor content, theft content, spelling mistakes etc. Google panda updation is also called farmer updation. 

Pogo sticking is a process of dropping down a website from top to bottom when that website is not able to satisfy users need while it is holding high rank also. Social media signal is an updation which increased the social media and affected the listing of that website.

Google penguin updation punished websites having many low quality links. Other updation include hummingbird, pigeon etc.

The updations helped google for providing higher efficiency in search results. So the updations are being continued by google which is also a factor of their success.
